ISLAMABAD: Newly-appointed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, Justice (r) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah, has delegated his powers to Deputy Chairman Qazi Jawed.

In a letter to all director generals of NAB's regional offices, Deedar said the deputy chairman has been advised to oversee the performance of all divisions.

Qazi Javed will now preside over all department boards for the appointments and promotions of all officers up to BS-20.

Meanwhile, a three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry is set to hear the petitions challenging the appointment of new NAB chairman on Monday.

The petition was filed by Barrister Iqbal Jaffery, who argued the chief justice of Pakistan and leader of the opposition were not consulted while appointing the NAB chief.

The petitioner said that Shah has strong affiliations with the PPP and President Asif Ali Zardari and this link has played a major role in the appointment.
