Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) officials suspended electricity supply to Charsadda-Islamabad Motorway Interchange, after accusing authorities at the interchange of failing to pay a bill of Rs100,000.
Wapda Executive Engineer (XEN) Tahir Khan said the water and power authority had launched a grand operation against electricity thieves and defaulters in Kaylas and Turlandai area of the district.
Divulging details, Khan said they apprehended 22 consumers who were allegedly stealing electricity and registered cases against them. He added electricity to their houses was also suspended and officials confiscated their billing meters.
The XEN revealed that during the drive, Rs100,000 was recovered from defaulters from both areas. He confirmed the discontinuation of supply to the motorway interchange on account of not paying electricity bills.
