Blocking finance: US designates LeJ chief as a ‘terrorist’
Obama administration moves to freeze assets of three suspected militants linked to Haqqani network.
WASHINGTON:
The US State Department designated Malik Ishaq, one of the co-founders of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), as a specially designated global terrorist under an executive order. Consequentially this would prohibit any US citizen to engage in any transaction with Malik Ishaq. It would also freeze all the properties and interests of Malik Ishaq in areas under the US jurisdiction. Additionally, the Obama administration moved on Wednesday to freeze the assets of three suspected militants linked to the Haqqani network.
