ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is making all-out efforts to induct at least 20 aircraft with long, medium and short range in its fleet, according to official sources. The management of the national flag carrier is making concrete efforts to persuade the government to induct 20 fuel-efficient aircraft into its fleet. “These aircraft will be inducted, commencing from April this year and 10 aircraft will be brought within a timeframe of six to 10 months,” he said, adding the air carrier needs a minimum of 45 aircraft. At a meeting chaired by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Aviation, Shujaat Azeem, it was decided that the employees of all cadres would be rewarded for their efficiency but corruption would not be tolerated. “We are trying to establish maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) facility and efforts will be made to earn revenue by offering these services to other airlines and organisations as well,” said Azeem.
