A judicial magistrate on Thursday ordered Gulberg police to hand over cricketer Umar Akmal his car which had been confiscated on Sunday after an FIR was registered against him for allegedly assaulting a traffic warden. Akmal said in his application that the police had taken his vehicle.
He said he was afraid it might get damaged. He asked the court to handover his car to him and undertook to bring it to court when required. Magistrate Imtiaz Ahmed Noor accepted Akmal’s application and ordered the police to return his car. Also on Thursday the police submitted their case.
The investigation officer concluded that Akmal obstructed a public servant in discharge of his duty. He said Akmal had also threatened the warden on being issued a ticket for violating traffic rules.
Akmal was arrested on Saturday and released by the Gulberg SHO on a personal surety bond of Rs100,000. He was granted bail by a court on Sunday.
