ISLAMABAD:
The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday seized heroin worth Rs593 million at the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT), Karachi.

According to a press release, the ANF Karachi seaport team confiscated a container at PICT and recovered 85 kilogramme of fine quality heroin.

The heroin was cleverly hidden in 17 of the 3,000 crates of oranges destined for Malaysia. Each of the 17 crates had 5kg of drug packets in it.

Two people were arrested and a case was registered in the ANF police station under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act.

The ANF faces serious challenges in checking perishable consignments due to time-limit and size of the shipment.

On November 21, police personnel had seized 31 kilogrammes of heroin from Cantt station in Karachi. The heroin was found in a case of guavas being transported by train from Lahore to Karachi.
