Army chief discusses defence cooperation in Riyadh

Matters relating to defence cooperation, regional stability and steps towards strengthening bonds are discussed.

Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday called on Saudi Crown Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud on the first day of his official visit to Saudi Arabia.


According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) General Sharif, who is on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia was also conferred upon King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence by the crown prince.

The army chief held separate meetings with Deputy Interior Minister Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al Rubaian, Chief of General Staff Royal Saudi Armed Forces General Hussain bin Abdullah Al Qubayyal and Commander Royal Saudi Land Forces Lieutenant General Eid bin Awadh Al Shalwi.


During the meetings, matters related to defence cooperation, regional stability and steps towards strengthening bonds between the two countries were discussed.

General Raheel thanked the Saudi leadership for its support to Pakistan and armed forces, the statement said.

Later in the day, army chief attended a luncheon hosted by General Hussain Bin Abdullah Al Qubayyal Chief of General Staff Royal Saudi Armed Forces.

According to officials, Saudi’s Defence Minister, Crown Prince Salman is due in Islamabad on a three-day official visit this month.
