ISLAMABAD:

Female students have outperformed their male counterparts in the result for masters degrees in colleges affiliated with Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU).

The part-I result announced on Tuesday was the first since the affiliation of colleges with QAU. Around 464 students appeared in the exams, 83 of whom failed. In most of the disciplines, female students were leading with the highest marks in their degrees. The university conducts external exams for colleges on an annual basis, while students enrolled at the varsity itself take exams under a semester system.

Hina Iqbal of Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Men H-8 topped in MSc Geography with 522 marks while Khurram Iqbal of the same college secured 549 marks in MSc Commerce.

Zarqa Aijaz from the Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-10/2 topped in applied psychology with 429 marks. In the MA English exams, Maryam Jameel of Islamabad College for Girls (Postgraduate) F-6/2 topped with 310 marks.

Aiman Fatima of Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4 topped MA Mass Communication by securing 351 marks. Tayyaba Siddique of IMCG F-10/2 bagged 309 marks in history. The other subjects included Urdu, Arabic, and Islamiat.

Several colleges in Islamabad have yet to affiliate themselves with QAU and are still conducting examinations under Punjab University due to the unavailability of the required amount for registration and affiliation.
