PESHAWAR: A ban on motorcycle riding will be imposed in Peshawar on Sunday to avoid any incidents of violence during the government’s Sehat ka Insaf campaign. According to a press release, Deputy Commissioner Syed Zahirul Islam said Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code will be imposed in the district from 8am to 5pm on February 9. It was also stated that those found guilty of violating the ban will face strict action under Section 188 which can send accused to prison for six months. Islam said 4,000 teachers would be hired for the campaign during which the remaining union councils from last week’s drive will be covered by volunteers and health officials. He said extra contingents of police would be deployed for security purposes in the city and its outskirts.
