State’s response: IED defused in Jamrud, 13 held in search operation
Operation ended at around 2pm and suspects were shifted to Jamrud for investigation.

An improvised explosive device (IED) was defused by bomb disposal squad (BDS) officials in Jamrud while 13 suspects were arrested in a search operation in various areas of the tehsil on Wednesday.
Jamrud political administration official Ali Sher said a search operation was launched by Frontier Corps (FC) officials, khasadars and the political administration in Ghundai and Malik Shaga at 6am after imposing a curfew.
The official said 13 people were arrested and light weapons along with three unregistered motorbikes were confiscated from their possession.
Two IEDs were also recovered from the house of a tribesman during the operation.
Sher added an FC official spotted a roadside bomb planted by unidentified militants in Malik Shaga at around 11am, after which a BDS unit was called to defuse the four-kilogramme bomb.
The operation ended at around 2pm and the suspects were shifted to Jamrud for investigation.
Sher said the operation was launched after a number of government officials were attacked in the area and multiple IEDs had been planted to target khasadar officials and tribesmen’s houses.
“The search operation will continue and be extended to others areas of the tehsil,” added the official.
