Did you know? : Designers don’t want to dress Miley Cyrus
Designers seem to be double-minded about Cyrus’s revamped persona.
She was the most Googled person in America last year, making headlines constantly worldwide. There’s no denying that Miley Cyrus has become a pop culture icon. From her drastic makeover, to her image revamp, Hannah Montana has made sure the world knows she’s a big girl now.
With her new, edgier image and star power, one would assume that designers would be falling head over heels to dress her. The whole world watches her every move, but designers seem to be double-minded about Cyrus’s revamped persona.
Stylist Katie Grand, who dressed Cyrus for her latest cover in Love magazine’s spring/summer ’14 issue, confessed that the task wasn’t an easy one.
“At first I wasn’t sure about Miley. A lot of people aren’t. It was tricky to borrow clothes for the shoot because she seems to divide opinion in a Marmite-esque way,” Grand wrote in an interview prior to Cyrus’s cover shoot, according to Vogue.
“Many people I respect didn’t want to get involved, they thought there was something superficial about her — dangerous, even,” said Grand.
Not all designers have the same perception of the star though; Cyrus is the face of Marc Jacobs’ latest campaign, which is no small feat.
Looks like Miley’s new image has done away with the myth that ‘all publicity is good publicity’.
