Asif wants full hearing with the ICC

After surprisingly withdrawing his appeal against provisional suspension, Asif requests “full hearing.”

LAHORE: After surprisingly withdrawing his appeal against the provisional suspension, Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Asif has requested a “full hearing” instead of a provisional one due to take place on October 30 and 31 in Doha.

Asif, one of the three Pakistan players to be provisionally suspended by the International Cricket Council over spot-fixing allegations, was set to attend the provisional hearing before he decided to withdraw his appeal.

“I actually want to contest a full hearing which is why I’ve withdrawn my appeal,” Asif told The Express Tribune from London.

“I feel that I can lose out but I will definitely return after clearing my name from the spot-fixing allegations because I know I haven’t done anything wrong.”

Asif, along with Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt, had to appear before the ICC Code of Conduct Commission headed by Michael Beloff QC.

However, after his withdrawal and request of a full hearing, the new date for the fast-bowler will be announced.

“We actually requested the ICC to adjourn the provisional hearing and approve of a full hearing, which was accepted,” added Asif. “We get more time to fight our case until then and that’s what we want.”
