KARACHI:

Two alleged criminals were killed in two separate encounters with the law enforcers on Tuesday.

The first encounter occurred in Mujahid Colony, Nazimabad, when two suspects riding a motorcycle were signalled to stop by Rangers personnel deployed at a nearby check post. The suspects tried, however, to escape as they opened fire at the personnel. In the retaliatory fire by the Rangers, one of the suspects was killed on the spot while his companion managed to escape. The body of the deceased was taken to Edhi morgue for identification after completing medico-legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Separately, a suspected criminal was killed in an alleged encounter with the police at Sharae Quaideen.

Ferozabad police officials said that deceased and his accomplice were trying to flee after looting citizens. The police reached the site and chased the alleged criminal. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the police managed to kill one criminal, who has yet to be identified, while his companion managed to flee.
