Accountability: SHO fined over illegal detention
Family of Amjad said in their petition that police had arrested him on suspicion of theft.

Vehari District and Session Judge Abid Hussain on Tuesday fined the Luddan station house officer Rs5,000 for illegally detaining a person. The family of the man had said in their petition that police had arrested Muhammad Amjad on suspicion of theft. They said SHO Mujahid Baloch had neither lodged an FIR against him nor presented him in any court. The judge had appointed a bailiff to raid the place. The bailiff had recovered Amjad from detention and was presented in court. The SHO said he was investigating the suspect. The judge reprimanded the SHO and ordered him to abstain from such detentions in future.
