Meaningful cooperation: Sarajevo University joins hands with NUST
Bosnian team for collaborations in research and exchange programmes.
A team of academics from Sarajevo University visited the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) to foster ties of mutual cooperation between the two institutes.
A four-member delegation, headed by Sarajevo University Rector Dr Muharem Avdispahic, met with NUST Rector Engineer Muhammad Asghar on Monday and Tuesday, showing a keen interest in expanding meaningful cooperation in the fields of joint research and faculty and student exchange programmes among others, said a press release.
A detailed briefing about the university was given to visiting dignitaries by NUST officials, appraising the delegation of NUST’s fast-paced growth as a leading university in Pakistan, on par with international standards.
Avdispahic also gave a presentation on his university. He thanked the NUST rector for hosting their visit to Pakistan and expressed gratitude on behalf of his compatriots to the Pakistani government and people for their unstinting support for Bosnian people in times of ordeal and unrest. Their university would try to emulate the standards of excellence set by NUST in a short time span, he said, adding that the visit would have enduring and productive outcomes towards promoting higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the ensuing question-answer session, Asghar responded to the queries raised by foreign academicians about the university’s research facilities, faculty-student ratio and questions related to areas and disciplines where both the universities could collaborate for the mutual interest.
The delegates also met with Academics Pro-Rector Dr Asif Raza to discuss areas of mutual collaboration in detail, including the admission of Bosnian students to NUST. Subsequently, the delegates were given brief presentations on the various schools and shown around to facilities being provided to the students.
