Three paramilitary troops were killed and four wounded when their patrol vehicle hit a roadside bomb near the volatile Awaran district of Balochistan on Friday morning.

The Frontier Corps (FC) spokesperson, Mohammed Wasay, confirmed the attack and the casualties, saying that two of the injured troops are in critical condition.

“An FC vehicle was on routine patrol from Awaran to Lasbela on the national highway when it was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by miscreants,” he told The Express Tribune.

Reinforcements were rushed to the spot, while the casualties were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Awaran is among the worst militancy-hit areas, where a massive earthquake had flattened 95 per cent of mud-houses last year. The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has been operating in Awaran and nearby areas. However, there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the latest attack. Security forces have mounted a search operation in the area.
