Solutions: ‘Govt committed to resolve energy crisis’

The Neelam-Jhelum project should be completed within two years, said PML-N’s Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal.

ISLAMABAD:
The Neelam-Jhelum project, which is expected to provide around 900 megawatt (MW) electricity, should be completed within two years, said PML-N’s Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal. He said that the government has purchased 1,700MW electricity after saving Rs452 billion through cuts in various development schemes. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif desires to complete the project which can help boost the country’s power production up to 22,000MW,” he said, adding that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, a private sector hydro power project has been initiated in Mirpur. Speaking about the Thar Coal project, he said that it served as an enormous national asset.
