Possible extortion case: Former MNA’s hujra targeted
An explosive device was planted by militants near the gate.

The house of Awami National Party’s former MNA Himayatullah Mayar was damaged when an explosive device planted by militants near the gate detonated on Wednesday night in Mayar, Mardan. SHO of Hoti police, Muhammad Inam Jan, said that Shakirullah, a resident of Mayar, was working as a watchman at Himayatullah’s hujra. Shakirullah said he was sleeping on Wednesday night when he was woken up by the sound of the explosion. He said that he came out of the room and found the gate of the hujra badly damaged, adding some windows were also broken. Jan said they lodged an FIR against unidentified militants. Himayatullah said he has received multiple calls from unidentified extortionists who are demanding Rs100 million, adding that the incident might have occurred because of his refusal.
