Social welfare: Strict action against negligent officers
Provincial Minister for Population Welfare says government is introducing 'revolutionary policies.'
FAISALABAD:
Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Zakia Shahnawaz said on Wednesday that strict action would be taken against negligent Population Welfare Department (PWD) officers. Chairing a meeting in Faisalabad, the minister directed MPA Begum Najma Afzal to monitor the performance of department officers. She said the government was introducing “revolutionary policies” to make the department more vibrant and effective. Shahnawaz said the department had asked religious leaders to spread the message of family planning among the masses. Population Welfare Department Secretary Altaf Aizad Khan said the performance of PWD officers in all districts would be evaluated after June 30, 2014. District Population Welfare Officer Farkhanda Almas told the meeting that 87 family welfare centres were operational in the district. She said 99 social mobilisers were also working. Later, Punjab Minister for Population Welfare visited Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, and divisional headquarters hospita and reviewed the facilities being provided.
