Blasphemy trial: Bail plea admitted for hearing

Accused blamed of distributing literature which included derogatory language about the Holy Prophet.

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday admitted for hearing the bail application of a woman accused of claiming to be a prophet. Salma Tanveer told the court in her bail petition that the case was false.

According to the complaint registered by Qari Iftikhar Ahmed, Salma Tanveer, who is the principal of a school in Nishtar Colony, had distributed some literature among neighbours. He claimed that the literature included derogatory language about the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). He also said that Tanveer had claimed to be a prophet.
