Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Nasir’s century leaves Rawalpindi in command
Batsman remains not out on 152 against Islamabad on day three.

In a clash between teams from twin cities, Rawalpindi’s Shoaib Nasir scored an unbeaten 152 to put them in the driving seat in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final against Islamabad at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.
Rawalpindi started day three without any runs on the scoreboard in their second-innings, and went on to score 281 for four in 83 overs at the closure, courtesy of Nasir’s outstanding knock.
Nasir utilised 248 balls, hitting two sixes and 22 boundaries with the support of skipper Babar Naeem, who struck a disciplined 75 off 120 with a six and eight boundaries.
Earlier, Rawalpindi got off to a shaky start as opener Adnan Mehmood was dismissed on naught while Haseeb Azam (11) also failed to make a significant contribution.
Rawalpindi then lost another important wicket of Naved Malik, who departed after scoring just 13 runs — at this stage, they were 82 for three.
However, Nasir and Babar struck a combined 159-run knock in their fourth-wicket partnership which stabilised the innings and put Rawalpindi on track.
Thus, Rawalpindi extender their overall lead to 317 runs, and with just two days of play left, they have put themselves in pole position to win the title.
No bowler from Islamabad managed to cause trouble for the opposition, as the quartet of Junaid Nadir, Shehzad Azam, Sarmad Bhatti and Mudassir Ali picked just a wicket apiece.

Ace umpire Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza have been appointed to conduct the final, while Shohzab Raza will be third umpire.
Winners of the competition will pocket Rs1 million, while the runners-up will take a prize purse of Rs500,000. Four individual awards of Rs50,000 will also be given to the man-of-the-final, best batsman, best bowler and all-rounder of the tournament.
