For greater harmony: Tribals be inducted in police, says IGP

Says it is for restoration of peace and prosperity.

IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has suggested people belonging to the tribal areas be inducted in the police force and other government departments for restoration of peace and prosperity. In a press release issued on Monday, the province’s top cop expressed concern that tribesman were not provided jobs according to the official quota set for them in various government departments, which leads to a sense of alienation among them. He said the people from Fata, especially those adjacent to the provincial boundaries, desire jobs in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government. Durrani further said tribal people cannot be hired due to the mandatory condition of having a K-P domicile for appointment in the police department. The police chief asked the provincial government to request the centre to create vacancies for tribal people in the police department to strengthen national integrity.
