Jennifer Hudson at her best
The Dreamgirl talks about embracing her 30s and promises that her forthcoming album will be anything but humdrum.
Actor-singer Jennifer Hudson is living the good life. The singer, who rose to prominence after scoring a finalist spot on the third season of American Idol, recently performed at Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday party at the White House. And she is headed to the much-awaited Grammy Awards on the weekend.
Hudson debuted her new single I Can’t Describe (the Way I Feel) at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy bash on January 25, an experience that she referred to as “a dream,” according to Huffington Post. Given the fast pace of her glam-filled life, Hudson took a breather and talked to E! News about what it’s like to be a celebrity, her take on being in her 30s and all that jazz.
“You know what, I guess, it’s just a part of my life,” she said of her life as a celeb. “It’s always surreal new and never gets old,” added the talented artiste, who starred as Winnie Mandela in the 2011 eponymous film.
The Oscar winner, who is now 32, shared that she has embraced the 30s and feels on top of the world. “I love the 30s. Now, I’ve gotten the hang of it. I feel settled with myself and am embracing [being in my 30s]. I love the space that I’m in.”
Jennifer is finalising her upcoming album, the official release of which has not been revealed yet. She told Huffington Post that similar to singer Beyoncé Knowles’ Sasha Fierce, she has her own alter ego, which she calls Jones.
She promises that Jones will not be singing anything humdrum. “Singing about the same old things in music is so over-rated,” she said. “I get annoyed with [the general themes of songs, such as drinking and clubbing]. Aren’t we too old for that kind of thing? Can’t we talk about something else? We are grown-ups and we still haven’t gotten over such things,” she said.
We can’t wait for your upcoming album J Hud!
