En route to school: 35 students injured in road mishap

15 students taken to DHQ Hospital while the rest, with minor injuries, were shifted to nearby private clinics.

KARAK: At least 35 students were injured when the tyre of an overloaded school van burst on Indus Highway in Esot Kalan area of Karak on Saturday. The accident occurred early morning when the van was en route to Chokara after picking up children from Khujaki Kalan and its surrounding areas, said an official of Takht-e-Nusrati police. He said police officials and residents rushed to the site after learning of the incident and shifted the injured students to the hospital. The official added 15 students were taken to DHQ Hospital while the rest, with minor injuries, were shifted to nearby private clinics. They were all discharged after treatment, with only two suffering from minor fractures, he said.
