Material loss: Fire destroys several shops in City Tower

No loss of life was reported as people were able to vacate the building in time.

PESHAWAR:
Around 18 shops were torched when a fire engulfed parts of City Tower on University Road on Thursday night. The fire broke out in a garment store and spread to other shops in the building, engulfing a hotel and a restaurant on the third floor. Firefighters took more than three hours to extinguish the flames. “The fire was caused by short-circuiting and destroyed or damaged almost every shop in one portion of City Tower,” said a Rescue 1122 offical. No loss of life was reported as people were able to vacate the building in time, but material losses to shop owners were estimated to run in millions of rupees.
