Sexual assault: Six-year-old raped, murdered
DNA samples of the men had been sent to a forensic laboratory.
BAHAWALPUR:
A six-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Liaqatpur on Thursday. *Muhammad Kamal, the father of the girl, a resident of Basti Juma Mohana, told the media that his daughter, *Waheeda Bibi, had gone to a market nearby to buy sweets on Thursday and never returned. “On Friday morning, we found the body lying near a sugarcane field… she had been raped and strangled,” he said. Kamal demanded justice. He said he had no enmity with anyone. Pacca Laran Station House Officer Chaudhry Faqeer Hussain told The Express Tribune that police had arrested suspects Muhammad Shahid and Muhammad Asif, residents of Basti Juma Mohana. He said DNA samples of the men had been sent to a forensic laboratory. Rahim Yar Khan District Police Officer Sohail Zafar Chattha, Liaquatpur SDPO Malik Tanveer Ahmad and SHO Chaudhry Faqeer Hussain met the family of the girl and assured them that the culprits would be arrested soon. *Names have been changed to protect identities.
