Extortion-related: Militants take away three of a family

Three people were allegedly kidnapped by militants from Umarabad area of Zangali on the city’s outskirts on Thursday night. According to the police, around a dozen armed militants entered a house and took away brothers Haq Nawaz and Naeem and their cousin Nawaz, a resident of Darra Adam Khel.
Police said militants had been demanding extortion from the family but they had refused to pay up and on Thursday night heavily armed militants stormed the house and took away the three men.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Badhaber police station. “The family is so afraid that they have refused to register an FIR but we know about the incident,” said a police official.
