Inter-school event to begin on Saturday

Children from 42 schools showed up to play the Wazir Ali Memorial Play for Peace Table Tennis Tournament in Karachi on Thursday.
The tournament kicked off with an opening ceremony with chief guest Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddique inaugurating the event.
The tournament will feature 448 players, with 256 girls and 192 boys divided into 112 teams with four players on each side.
Nasra School and Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI) joined hands to promote peace through sports.
“This tournament will allow players from diverse backgrounds to play as a unit,” KYI spokesman Farhan Iqbal told The Express Tribune. “They will set aside their differences and exemplify teamwork. Many students were happy to be a part of this event and promote peace through sports.”
Round matches and quarter-finals will be played on Saturday while semi-finals and the final matches will be played on Monday.
