The Pakistani tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his German partner Julia Goerges lost in the quarter finals of the mixed doubles event in the Australian Open 2014 to India’s Sania Mirza and Romania’s Horia Tecau, Express News reported on Thursday.
Aisam and Georges lost 6-3, 6-4 to the Indian-Romanian duo.
On January 21, Aisam and his partner had cruised into the quarter-final of the mixed doubles event.
Despite Aisam’s third round exit from the men’s doubles event, the Pakistan tennis ace had continued his campaign at the grand slam in the mixed doubles competition until now.
Aisam and Goerges had defeated fourth seeds Czech Republic’s Andrea Hlavackova and Belarus’ Max Mirnyi 6-3, 6-4 in just 59 minutes.
In the French Open last year, Aisam had registered a win in the mixed doubles event, teaming up with Zimbabwe’s Cara Black to defeat the top-seeded duo of India’s Sania Mirza and Sweden’s Robert Lindstedt 6-2, 6-3 in the first round.
