This or that?: Be-guil-ing at The Producers Guild Awards

Helen Mirren and Claire Danes have time and again wowed us with their effortless femininity.

Actors Helen Mirren and Claire Danes have time and again wowed us with their effortless femininity and impeccable style choices.

Although Danes, 34, is exactly half Mirren’s age, 68, their ethereal elegance epitomises the golden adage that age is just a number. The stars shone amid their contemporaries, who were mostly lacklustre, at the 25th annual Producers Guild of America Awards.

Here is a breakdown of their looks from head to toe.

Helen Mirren

Hair and make-up:

Mirren looked youthful in a fresh, asymmetrical hairdo. She wore a hot pink lip colour that enhanced the vibrancy of her dress. With rosy cheeks and eyes thinly lined in black, she opted for a simple yet peppy look.

Outfit:

La belle dame sans merci (the beautiful lady without mercy) indeed! The Queen actor, who received damehood for her contribution to the performing arts at the Buckingham Palace, looked nothing less than royalty in an Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture nude gown. The gorgeous dress has embellishment on the sleeves and bodice that cascade onto the skirt. We had been missing the x-factor from the red carpet this awards season, but Mirren is certainly bringing it back.

Accessories and shoes:

The dazzler carried a silver Swarovski clutch, which complemented the look and accessorised with Neil Lane diamonds. The red nails added to her va-va-voom. Perhaps our most favourite accessory is her smile, post-Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards win. We love it!

Claire Danes

Hair and make-up:

Danes showed off her layers with a flattering blowout. After showcasing the bold-eye-nude-lip look at the SAG Awards, the diva tried out an orange lip colour, and might we add, pulled it off sensationally. To complement her citrus lips, she wore frosty shadow with thick black liner.

Outfit:

The gorgeous Dames wore a Christian Dior Spring 2014 dress featuring a blue silk metallic cocktail sheath with a twist-front bodice and white calf-length pencil skirt. Pale blue is our winter favourite and the Homeland actor definitely hits a home run in this dress. Although she plays it safe with the dress, we feel that caution can sometimes be a preferable watchword.

Accessories and shoes:

She wore elegant Irene Neuwirth earrings and rings to enhance the gracefulness of her look. She wore dull gold pointed pumps that are a tad nondescript, but we love this look anyway!
