LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday directed the Railway Police SHO to file his comments by January 25 on a petition seeking the registration of an FIR against 10 policemen accused of thrashing and stealing from the petitioner.

Muhammad Hanif, a wireman at the Lahore Registry branch of the Supreme Court and domestic employee of former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, said he had gone to the railway station a few days ago to buy a ticket to go to Narowal.

He said two sub inspectors, three assistant sub inspectors, four havaldars and a constable stopped and frisked him.

Hanif said they took his mobile phone, Rs5,500 and other valuables.

He said he had visited the relevant police station but the SHO did not register a case against the policemen.

Hanif requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case.
