Taking notice of a newspaper report that a wrestler in Sialkot was attacked with acid, Lahore High Court’s Complaint Cell on Tuesday directed the Sialkot district and sessions judge to submit a report.
The judge was also told to add his comments and an update of police action in this regard.
Police said that the 60-year-old wrestler, Muhammad Hussain alias Nikka, was attacked on Monday by unidentified men on a motorcycle. Police said two men visited Hussain’s dera in Lalaywali village near Pasrur, and asked a worker about him. The worker led the men to Hussain. Before Hussain asked them who they were, police said, one of the men took out a bottle full of acid and emptied it at him. The men fled.
Hussain was taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital, where he was said to be in critical condition. A case was registered against unidentified men.
Hussain later told police that he had no known enemies and did not have any idea of who could have been behind the attack. The judge will submit his report to the LHC Complaint Cell in a week.
