PESHAWAR:
IGP Nasir Khan Durrani ordered SSP investigations on Tuesday to work under the supervision of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) in Peshawar sub-division.
This was decided at a meeting presided over by the IGP and attended by AIGs and DIGs. It was also decided that every DSP will be responsible for the supervision of investigation staff in his circle.
Previously, every sub-division had its own DSP investigations, which led to a lack of coordination between the investigation and operation departments. Now, both will be working together. This is being tried out on an experimental basis and will be implemented in Peshawar division as a pilot project. If successful, it will be extended to other districts.
Constables suspended
Seven police constables were suspended by CCPO Ijaz Khan on Tuesday. He also ordered an inquiry against them. Three constables identified as Waseem Sajad, Kaleemullah and Shahzad Rahim were found guilty of an armed robbery on Ring Road and were suspended. An inquiry committee will decide what their future holds.
The other four constables, including Shabina Shabnu and Haleem, were suspended for their prolonged absence from duty. An inquiry was also launched against them.
It is expected that they will be fired from service once the inquiry report is submitted.
