ISLAMABAD:

Punctuality is essential for the effective delivery of justice.

This was said by Supreme Court Judge Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Monday at the inaugural ceremony of a one-week refresher course for superintendents of sessions courts from across Pakistan including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan here at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).

Justice Jamali said court administration remains one the greatest challenges in the effective delivery of justice. It is also a known fact that the court management is a comprehensive procedure. Therefore, even the smallest aspect has a significant impact on the effective administration of justice.

He said that, “It is this lack of managerial skills in the court administration which contributes to the increase in pendency rates of both civil and criminal matters.  Here the role of the superintendents of the district and sessions courts, who are considered the backbone of justice administration, takes utmost important for institutionalising an effective court management system.”

He said district and sessions judges who get competent men of character and integrity as superintendents in their courts are most fortunate.

FJA Spokesman Hashim Abro said that twenty-three superintendents of district and sessions courts were undergoing the week-long training.
