Provincial Commission on the Status of Women has expressed serious concern over the decision taken by the provincial government to replace three female parliamentarians with male MPAs from the opposition as chiefs of District Development Advisory Committees (DDACs).
According to a press release issued by the commission on Sunday, an emergency meeting was held where members showed reservations over the decision, declaring it “a needless effort by the provincial government to satisfy the opposition in the assembly.”
The commission also said if the removal of PTI MPAs was so necessary to win the opposition’s hearts the government should have selected women MPAs from the opposition.
It vowed to pursue the case and all the members decided to bring the matter into the notice of the chief minister with the demand to select women MPAs from the opposition.
