KARACHI: A teenage girl died after falling from a building under mysterious circumstances in Saddar on Friday. The 14-year-old girl was a resident of City Shopping Mall and Residency which is located near the Empress Market in Saddar within the limits of the Preedy police station. She fell from the thirteenth floor and died on the spot. Her body was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi where the postmortem revealed numerous broken bones. The deceased was a student at a seminary on Akbar Road in Saddar. “She had left home to buy detergent,” said the girl’s brother. “We have no idea why she went to the top of the building.” The girl’s neighbour saw her walking along the boundary of the building’s rooftop. “I shouted and called her but she didn’t respond,” she said. Police have ruled out the possibility of a criminal act and believe it to be suicide. “Our investigation suggests that she committed suicide,” SHO Yar Muhammad Rind revealed to The Express Tribune. “She committed the act after being disheartened over a fight with her youngest brother at home.” The officer added that the family also informed the police that she had committed suicide and their statements have been recorded.
