Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Malik Naveed was taken to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for a cardiac problem on Thursday.
The former IGP was taken from Central Jail Peshawar where he was sent on a 14-day judicial remand in a Rs7 billion weapons scam case. He is accused of having embezzled Rs360 million.
According to an LRH media cell official, Naveed has been admitted to the cardiology ward of the medico-legal block and is currently under observation. The official said the analysis of Naveed’s condition is under process and they will be able to tell with certainty as to what exactly happened only after results of medical reports surface.
After spending 56 days in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Malik Naveed was sent to Central Jail Peshawar on a 14-day judicial remand on Wednesday.
While he was presented at the accountability court under tight security for an additional 14 days of physical remand in the prosecution’s custody, the court rejected the request and instead ordered a judicial remand.
