ISLAMABAD:
Nandipur Power Project’s Managing Director Muhammad Mehmood said the plant would be ‘operational’ this year, stressing that the work on the project was in ‘full swing’. “The 425-525MW Nandipur Power Plant will be fully operationalised by December and its first unit will start power generation in May,” said Mehmood. “The project would cost Rs56 billion.” Sharing the details of the project, he said that the plant would generate 425MW if it was operated with furnace oil and 525MW with gas. Mehmood said that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had approved the project in December 2007 and its scheduled time of completion was 2011. However, the project was delayed and would complete in December 2014. Mehmood stated that the machinery had already been transported.
