Crackdown on illegal exchanges
PTA and FIA jointly conduct raids in Lahore against illegal telecom exchanges involved in terminating grey traffic.
KARACHI:
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have jointly conducted several raids in Lahore against illegal telecom exchanges involved in terminating grey traffic.
PTA officials revealed that during simultaneous raids conducted at different locations across the city, a large number of gateways, GSM tellulars, switches, routers, computers and other accessories were confiscated, while two persons were apprehended.
Officials also informed that an “advanced technical monitoring system” is being used to identify illegal telecom activities throughout Pakistan. After the discovery of these operators, the enforcement division informed the FIA which participated in the raids.
Officials contend that a team of trained professionals use different procedures and processes to apprehend culprits.
