LAHORE: A “family fun” race was organised by the Punjab Youth Festival management on Sunday. The participants ran from the Liberty roundabout to Hussain Chowk in Gulberg. Ahmed Hafeez, Waqar Rasheed and Shahzeb Iqbal won the first, second and third positions, respectively. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Hafeez said the race was a great initiative MPA Uzma Bukhari said, “We are committed to encouraging young people at the grassroots level to participate in sports.” Rasheed, who secured second position, said that participation in the Punjab Youth Festival in large numbers would send a message that Pakistan was prepared to host international teams. Iqbal, another participant, said he hoped that this year’s contestants would break the records set at the Punjab Youth Festival last year.
