Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday approved a proposal to rename the Garments Industrial Zone to Punjab Apparel Park.


He was presiding over a meeting attended by ministers Tanvir Aslam, Muhammad Shafique, Ijazun Nabi, MPA Ayesha Ghaus Pasha and senior members of the Board of Revenue.

Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab Apparel Park would be set up on 1,500 acres of land with 1,170 plots of various sizes. He said Rs2.5 billion had been released for land. He said a hospital, a vocational training institute and playgrounds would be developed at the park.

He said a modern water treatment plant would also be set up. He said 12 acres had been allocated for a skill development centre as well.

He said a special transport system would be provided for labourers and a labour colony be established in the park.
