Case of extortion?: House blown up, girl injured

A girl was severely injured when a bomb planted by unidentified militants within the boundary wall of her house went off in Merobak, lower Orakzai Agency on Saturday.


An official of the political administration said the incident occurred a little after midnight, after which residents of the area rushed to the site and shifted the 13-year-old injured girl, Gul Zarina, to Kohat Divisional Hospital in critical condition. The boundary wall, along with the main gate, was destroyed by the impact of the explosion, while another room was partially damaged.


The official said security officials set up a check post in lower Orakzai Agency and arrested a suspected militant following the incident. Five mortar shells, a rocket launcher and rocket shells were recovered from the alleged militant, Shadi Gul. The official added the suspect is believed to be involved in the attack on the house over extortion.



In another incident, a bullet-ridden body was found by a roadside in lower Orakzai agency on Saturday morning. The official added unidentified attackers killed the man and dumped his body near an electricity tower in Dargai.  The body was picked up by political administration officials, who shifted him to the tehsil office for identification. However, no one came to collect the body till the filing of this report.
