High-Speed Collision: Khyber Mail crashes into tanker
Residents said that gates of either sides of the crossing were open when the incident took place.
HYDERABAD:
A major accident was averted as the Khyber Mail train hit a tanker carrying sugarcane syrup on Friday on the Detha railway crossing near Hyderabad. The impact detached 13 of the train’s wagons but all the wagons remained on the tracks and no passengers were injured. The tanker, whose driver jumped out seconds before the crash, broke into pieces while the train’s engine was also damaged. Residents said that gates of either sides of the crossing were open when the incident took place. Assistant executive engineer Ghaus Bux Soomro denied any failure on the railway’s part.
