The provincial chief minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, is convinced that Crime Investigation Department (CID) SP Chaudhry Aslam was killed to avenge his successes in the targeted operation.
Speaking to media after attending an event at Arts Council on Friday, Shah said the government is probing this high-profile murder through different aspects. “But apparently it looks like the attack was a revenge for the Karachi operation,” he said, adding that it was the government’s responsibly to maintain law and order and it will establish its writ.
The CM felt that the police morale was high and hoped that this kind of attack will not demoralise them. Shah refused to elaborate on what progress the investigators have made but added that the police, paramilitary forces and various intelligence agencies have started looking into the case and the real culprits will not be let off. “Chaudhry Aslam was a brave police officer and he fought the terrorists till his death. We salute the services he rendered for the police force,” he said.
Talking about the local government elections, Shah said that February 23 was the date recommended by the election commission to hold the local government polls in Sindh but they have yet to reach consensus on this date.
