Premeditated: Police foil attack on check post

The police foiled an attack at a check post in Sarband area on Friday. More than half a dozen men attacked Manzoor Shaheed check post of Sarband police.



Police managed to kill one of the suspects while the others escaped towards Shalober, Khyber Agency. An official from the police station said one of the attackers was killed by the police during the shoot-out. He was identified as Jan Muhammad, a resident of Landikotal. The official added that one police vehicle was also damaged in the attack.

In an unrelated incident, a farmer identified as Sadaqat was injured in an explosion while irrigating a field in Suleman Khel village. This incident took place in the jurisdiction of Badhaber police station. The police claim Sadaqat was the target of an explosive device planted in the fields. The farmer was taken to Lady Reading Hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
