Kidnapping: Two children of Christian family go missing
Residents took to the streets to protest the police’s indifferent attitude.
SUKKUR:
As two children went missing, residents of Christian Colony New Yard Rohri took to the streets to stage a protest demonstration at Beri Chowk on Thursday against the kidnapping.
The children went missing from the colony from Wednesday evening. The protesters led by Irshad Maseeh and Perwaiz Maseeh gathered at Beri Chowk while shouting slogans against the police, which according to them has failed to provide protection to the lives and properties of the people. The sit-in caused traffic between Sukkur and Rohri to remain suspended for one hour.
Irshad alias Shado Maseeh said his three-year-old daughter Christy and his two-year-old grandson Suleman alias Raja were playing in the colony when they went missing. He said they started looking for the missing children and after failing to find them, they approached the police. The police did not show any interest in the case.
SHO Iqbal Domki reached the sit-in and negotiated with the protesters and assured the children will be recovered soon. On his assurance, the protesters ended the blockade. Rohri police registered an FIR against unidentified kidnappers on the complaint of Irshad Maseeh.
