MLO indicted in JPMC rape case

MLO charged with raping trainee nurse pleads not guilty, formally charged on Thursday.

KARACHI: A suspended medico-legal officer at Jinnah hospital, Dr Abdul Jabbar Memon, who is charged with raping a trainee nurse, was formally charged on Thursday by Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Razzak.

He pleaded not guilty after which the court ordered the prosecution to present its case and produce their witnesses on November 6, the next hearing of the case.

The trainee nurse was allegedly lured for a permanent job in the government-run health facility. She alleged that the accused attempted to rape her which is why she jumped from the first floor of the doctors’ hostel, sustaining severe head injuries and fractures on July 13, 2010.
