Pakistan golfers to play in Bangladesh event

KARACHI:
Pakistan has confirmed the participation of a two-member team for the Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship scheduled to be held next month, according to an official close to the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF).

The official said since the event was an amateur competition and accommodation will be provided within the golf course vicinity, the golfers have no security concerns about their stay amid the anti-Pakistan sentiments in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the official added that a three-day trial of golfers will start from Thursday in Lahore to select the team for the forthcoming championship.


“A total of 25 amateur golfers will participate in the trials,” he said. “The team will be announced on January 11.”

Prominent amateur golfers participating in the trials include Ghazanfar Mehmood, Tariq Mehmood, Wasim Rana, Taimur Khan and Fakhar Imam.
