Beyond borders: Let’s build trade ties with Bosnia, says minister

Hamid terms bilateral economic activity crucial for both countries.

ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid said Pakistan wants to strengthen economic ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina by encouraging bilateral trade and investment.

The government desired to further expand the existing volume of trade and economic activities between the two countries, the minister said while speaking to the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nedim Makarevic.



The agenda of the meeting included areas of mutual interest, bilateral ties, and cooperation in various fields. The minister said that Bosnia, Herzegovina and Pakistan enjoyed close fraternal ties, which were deeply embedded in history, religion and tradition.


He said there was great potential to enhance mutual cooperation, business ties and trade between the two countries and also emphasised the need to learn from each other’s experiences and adopt the best practices in the field of science and technology.

Ambassador Nedim apprised the minister regarding the progress made in various areas of co-operation between Pakistan and Bosnia. He stated that the trade volume between the two countries was very low and there was great potential to increase trade in the areas of food items, textile and leather goods.
