Knowledge Park: Govt and British Council sign MOU

The agreement aims to attract world renowned institutions.

The British Council Lahore and the Higher Education Department signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday for collaborative investment in the proposed Knowledge Park  in Lahore, which aims to  attract world renowned educational institutions and information and computer technology companies. The Knowledge Park will cover an area of 852 acres in proximity to the Defence Housing Authority.

Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and British Council Director Richard Meir signed the MoU in a ceremony held today at British Council Lahore. Higher Education Additional Secretary Shahid Zaman and Schools Education Additional Secretary Punjab Ahmad Ali Kamboh were also present.

Khan said the Knowledge Park would benefit both economy and education.

He emphasised the need to promote the knowledge economy in Pakistan. Meir said the British Council would help with easy access to modern knowledge and organise visits of educational and technology companies for investment in Lahore.
